Does it support multiplayer?¶
No. XenoCore is single-player only. Party members are AI-controlled characters on one machine, and nothing is replicated. Adding multiplayer would mean replicating the party, targeting, Arts, inventory and saves: treat that as a new project built on XenoCore's ideas. See Compatibility.
Can I add it to a project that is not based on Lyra?¶
No. XenoCore is a Lyra Game Feature plugin: its C++ is built on Lyra's game module, and its maps run a Lyra Experience. Start from a Lyra Starter Game 5.8 project (free on Fab) and add XenoCore to it. See Install and first launch.
Do I need to know C++?¶
No. Almost everything is data: Blueprints, data assets and Data Tables. You do need Visual Studio 2022 installed, because XenoCore is delivered as source and compiles the first time the project opens. See Requirements.
Which platforms and engine versions?¶
Windows 64-bit and Unreal Engine 5.8 only. No Mac, Linux, console or mobile support. When a new engine version comes out, XenoCore is re-tested and a new upload is published for it. See Compatibility.
Why do I need VRM4U?¶
The seven sample party members are VRoid characters, and their skeletons, faces, toon materials and hair physics run on VRM4U, a free plugin by ruyo (MIT licence). XenoCore cannot include it, so you download it once; see Install. Your own characters do not have to be VRoid characters: see Add a party member.
Is NVIDIA DLSS required?¶
No. DLSS is optional. If you install NVIDIA's own DLSS plugin, DLSS, Frame Generation and Reflex appear in the game's video settings; without it they are simply not shown. See Turn on NVIDIA DLSS and Frame Generation.
Is there music?¶
The music system ships (a field track, a battle track that fades in when a fight starts, a night track and fallbacks), but no music tracks are included, so the sample is silent. Add your own tracks to the map's Area Music actor or to the project-wide fallbacks: see Give a map its music.
Are the voices AI-generated?¶
Yes. The sample party's battle voice lines were generated with ElevenLabs text-to-speech from scripts written for XenoCore, and the Fab listing is marked Created with AI. You can replace any line with your own recording: see Battle voices.
Can I remove the sample content?¶
Yes. Build your own characters, gear, enemies and map first, then follow Replace the sample content to remove the samples without leaving missing references.
Can I use the included content in my game?¶
Yes, inside games you make. Some content comes from other sources (Epic's samples, Megascans, a stylized grass kit, Mixamo and Paragon-derived animations, pixiv's VRoid sample models): it is included for use in your project, but not for resale as assets on its own. See Credits and licences.
Where do I get help?¶
Open an issue at github.com/baremetalrt/xenocore-dist/issues. Reporting a bug says what to include.
